The national online Olympiad in the Russian language has started among students of the Republic of Cuba. It is held with the aim of popularizing the Russian language and Russian education, as well as developing the traditions of cultural and educational cooperation between Russia and Cuba.
Schoolchildren and students of Cuban educational organizations are invited to participate. The Olympiad is held in five age categories and generally covers pupils from the 1st to the 12th grade and university students.
The test will take place in two stages. The regional qualifying round will take place from 20 to 24 December, and the final from 26 to 30 December.
The test is organized by the A.S. Institute of International Law and Economics. Griboyedov and the Institute for Humanitarian Education and Testing with the support of the Ministry of Education of Russia.
This year, with the help of grants from the Russian department, a whole range of educational events was implemented, the main goal of which is to promote the Russian language and culture. The ministry’s work is also aimed at developing the infrastructure of Russian education abroad: creating centers for the promotion of the Russian language, a network of educational courses and online schools for the Russian language, conducting advanced training courses for teachers and educational and methodological support of educational organizations.
The qualifying round of the International Online Olympiad in Russian as a foreign language is coming to an end, the press service of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation reports.
The competition is organized by the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation in conjunction with the St. Petersburg State University.
The main goal of the competition is to strengthen interest in Russian as a foreign language, Russian culture, to popularize them abroad, to increase the importance of the Russian language as a language of international communication.
More than 6900 foreign students from 131 countries took part in the first round of the Olympiad. These are students from China, USA, Italy, Vietnam, Montenegro, Saudi Arabia, Kazakhstan and other states.
There are two age categories for the participants of the Olympiad: 13–17 years old and 18–30 years old.
In the first round, foreigners took an online test on the vocabulary and grammar of the Russian language, as well as completed tasks on the text, which test the participant’s ability to understand both the main idea and the details of the reading.
The second round starts on December 20. Finalists will also have to pass an online test that will test their knowledge of lexical, syntactic, grammatical norms of the Russian language and phraseological units. Moreover, the test includes working with a literary text, the task is aimed at checking the understanding of the general idea, plot and details of the read and its interpretation.
According to the results of the Olympiad, the winners and awardees will be awarded prizes, textbooks on the Russian language and diplomas. They will also have the opportunity to pass free state testing in Russian as a foreign language in one of the 80 partner centers of St. Petersburg State University and receive an international state certificate. In addition, the diploma of the winner and awardee of the Olympiad will give bonus points when foreign citizens enroll in a number of educational programs of St. Petersburg State University.
The results of the Olympiad will be announced on December 24.
Refresher courses for Russian language teachers teaching abroad were conducted by Russian specialists in Armenia, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.
In three countries, more than a thousand Russian teachers have passed them.

Advanced training programs have been developed by leading Russian specialists: methodologists-philologists, practicing teachers from the system of basic general education and scientists.
Classes were held in Armenia at the Kapan secondary school number 3, known as the Russian school in the city of Kapan, Uzbekistan, Fergana and Andijan, at the regional centers for retraining and advanced training of public education workers and in Kyrgyzstan – at the Osh State University.
Studying according to Russian programs, Russian teachers plunged into a digital educational environment, learned about the requirements for professional competence and digital literacy of a teacher, and got acquainted with the resources of the Russian electronic school.
The listeners, including teachers from schools in different regions of Armenia, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, emphasized the relevance and importance of training under the guidance of Russian teachers, noted that participation in this project will stimulate a new stage in their professional activities.

A math week for Thai schoolchildren and students was organized by Russian teachers. All events were held at the Khon Kaen University in Thailand.
Within the framework of the mathematical week, an Olympiad, mathematical games and popular science lectures in mathematics were held. Almost 300 students took part in the competition.

Mathematical Week is the result of international cooperation between Russia and Thailand in the development of mathematics education. Note that the mathematical week, in particular the Olympiad, was preceded by a large-scale preparatory work that lasted several months: preparation and translation of assignments, conducting training sessions and seminars with volunteers. Note that in total, about a hundred Thai volunteers were involved.
Participants hope that the math festival in Khon Kaen will become an annual event uniting Russia and Thailand, as many Thai schoolchildren show a keen interest in mathematics and can continue their studies in Russia in the future.
The organizer from the Russian side was the Research Institute of Problems of Development of the Scientific and Educational Potential of Youth. The Association for the Export of Technological Sovereignty, the Moscow Center for Continuous Mathematical Education and the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Kingdom of Thailand provided support and comprehensive assistance in the preparation and conduct of the events.
Chinese teachers of the Russian language will take advanced training courses in accordance with Russian programs.
The educational program is organized by the Center for the Development of Leadership and Project Competencies and the Tyumen State University with the support of the Ministry of Education of Russia and will last from 23 to 27 December. The events are held at the Qufu State Normal University (Shandong Province).
The project is aimed at improving the professional competence of teachers of Russian as a foreign language in educational institutions of the People’s Republic of China.
Leading teachers from Russia will conduct lectures and master classes, as well as methodological consultations for their Chinese colleagues. Upon completion of the training, 40 philologists from Qufu will receive certificates of completing an additional professional training program.
